Simply Gutter!

If you haven’t heard the Lifesavors (big up Portland) are hitting again this year and we’re eager anticipating the interview (Gutteryfly Hitting in April). Until that time we got a remix of Dead Ones that got leaked, we heard the whole album and it’s fire but have been instructed not to share until further notice or our listening privileges will be revoked. We know you want us to keep hearing music before the masses so we’re going to comply. This is just a taste of what’s to come.

Merchants

We never have been able to catch with the Addict Merchants until just last week. We’re excited to get the interview with them after 2 years of trying and it was even better to see them out at their monthy Steppin To The AM @ Capitol Garage (every 3rd saturday). Make sure you get the single if you see it in stores, and look for them in Issue 16 of THELEGEND.

Watching the game!

Why oh why do people insist on not looking inward for the answer? I was talking to some friends and they were talking about the state of music yet again. Woe is me, whoa is the radio, I don’t listen, who is the sell out, did that concert sell out? Stop the talk. If you want a different world you have to participate in it not be one of the billion ticket holders with a hot dog and nachos in the stands.

Now if you do choose to be in the stands there are a couple of rules that you must remember.
- You can yell at the real players all you want but they only LISTEN to the other players, the coach and staff.
- Just because you believe a player stands for something, doesn’t mean they believe it or even want it. If you want someone to stand for something you believe in, join the game yourself.
- You’re sitting in the stands, you came to see the game, why break down every little thing enjoy it if you’re not going to play.
- Last but not least, your life is not a game. If you’re sitting down on the sidelines you really need to talk to the Dalai Lama and get your mind right.

Juxtapoz takeover

Ok, so Juxtapoz has some of the best news of any mag out right now.  Matt Revelli (founder/leader of Upper Playground) is the Editor In Chief as of the Febuary issue.  Juxtapoz although it is a premier art/culture mag has been known in art circles as covering the same artist time and time again.  With Matt having influence and propelled the careers of so many artists it’s no doubt that it’s a great move for Juxtapoz.

Upper Playground blog: SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – January 10, 2007 – Upper Playground’s Founder and CEO Matt Revelli has been named the new editor-in-chief of Juxtapoz Magazine. The monthly publication is the nation’s premier art and culture magazine. Beginning with the February 2007 issue, Revelli will assume his new role as editor-in-chief. The February issue also marks the debut of the revamped format of the publication featuring a new layout and editorial features.

Allow me to introduce myself

What up folks? I’ll keep this one short and to the point. I DJ and go by P-Sol. I’ll be helping the legend staff out by posting some crucial material as well as some nonsense. A few months ago I won some dj contest and included in the prize package was to share the cover of the latest BPM magazine. You can pick it up in most stores like borders and barnes and noble. You can also digitally read it online at www.bpmmagazine.net. Below the article, there are a few mixes I made. Enjoy! Notice the Estate LA Cap on my dome. Soon they will be errrrrwhere.

Mark is mixing again…

Damn yo, I’m not one to be all over Mark Ronson (although I know he was real when i saw him a Mass Appeal back issue rocking some airbrushed gear.  This mix is absolutely nuts though. The BBC’s Radio One has long been a great source for music and the essential mix is a staple of the station.  A 2 hour mix of hotness.  Mark hits everyone from Beck to the Roots, Chaka Kahn and Busta Rhymes to CSS and Coldplay.
Listen here…oh don’t believe us.  Check the track listing.

Slackin on your mackin…

The Davis City Manager (or whomever is in charge of city bike storage) is slackin on his mackin if he doesn’t make Davis, CA. (the city with the largest number of bikes per capitol in the world) the first US city with these hot new bike holders. Great design and functionality is something that we can’t resist and neither should Davis.
