Humpday Giveaways, Every Wednesday on LEGENDmag

LEGENDmag

Daily Features

First of it’s kind event on West Coast

Shaun Slaughter has been a friend of LEGENDmag almost since it’s very first publish date and the relationship continues. I’ll be in Sacramento tonight judge this ipod battle for all the music lovers in the city of trees. I can’t wait, I had to cut off my right arm for gas money but he told me I only need one arm for tonight.

Sacramento Stand UP!

The Idea: verything started in March 2006 when TTC’s Teki Latex and Romain Rock, bored with strictly Hip Hop, Electro or Rock n Roll parties, decided to create a night where those scenes would share their influences. They chose the brand new Parisian club Paris Paris to host the party. The Infamous Para one, Justice, Dj Medhi, Surkin, Uffie and a lot more have already been battling to reach the podium! Since then, the Ipod Battle has been to Montreal and Geneva and soon Lausanne. This is only the beginning…. This night is always a killer. We want Sacramento to experience this event. Everyone who is invited plays a role in the game. This is going to be fun and we want you to take it seriously. This is a real battle.

Wiimbledon 2008: SF!

This just in (a week ago): “To all the rappers in the top 10: Wiimbledon’s back, and this year we’re kicking it 3,000 miles clockwise from NYC to San Francisco.

The plan: Leaving the first week in June, we’ll ‘Bago it Madden-style cross-country, stopping here and there for mini-tournaments, and gas, and probably your couch. We’ll hit SF June 20th. The 2nd Annual Wiimbledon Tournament’ll be held Saturday, June 21st.

We’ll be releasing more details — e.g., where exactly we’re stopping along the way, what this year’s prizes are, etc — in the coming days and weeks. But anyone who hit up Wiimbledon 2007 knows how we throw down. So fear not, lil ladies, we’re gonna bring the goodness through the breadbasket. To stay current with our trials, tribulations, and inevitable high-fivin’ success, sign up above for e-mail updates. That way you’ll get the straight poop first, including first crack at sign-ups.

Also, keep yer peepers on the blog, where we’ll be posting with fiber-like regularity.

Finally: In keeping with Wiimbledon’s shoestring ethos, we can only do this with your help. If you’re interested in sponsoring Wiimbledon 2008 in any fashion, we’d love to talk to you. Hit the contact page, or pen us at brooklyn [dot] wiimbledon [at] gmail [dot] com.

So. Mark your calendars. Stretch your hammies. Kiss your barbies. Wiimbledon 2008’s on the way.”

Support your Sol

Hey everyone, time to dig in your pockets and give what you can.  That same way you hear NPR on the radio trying to gather support for a show, that’s what Sol Collective is doing.  Community organizations need comunnity support. Here’s the word from the Sol Collective Art Gallery.

Sol Collective needs your help! As many of you may know, the Sol Collective is run by a volunteer staff. We provide arts and cultural programming for the community as well as youth classes and events, both on site and in the community. Those of you who attend our events know, they are usually free or on a donation basis. We do a lot of events, put time and energy into them, while holding down other jobs. Those other jobs have been paying the rent for the space. Unfortunately we have come to a point where we can no longer do this without community support. We may be closing our doors in a few months if we do not raise funds. Donations are tax deductible. If all of our friends on my space donated $10-20 dollars, it could keep our doors open for over a year! If you support what we do,please donate ,we would like to continue to serve the community..LOve Please check out our website too! www.solcollective.com”

Events: DnB

I always hear rumblings from people that there’s not alot of good electronic music in Sacramento.  If you told that to the homies at 916junglist, UnitedState, or our  DnB soul brotha number 1 59 crime they might get a little offended.  So do your part and show up.

Merchants

We never have been able to catch with the Addict Merchants until just last week. We’re excited to get the interview with them after 2 years of trying and it was even better to see them out at their monthy Steppin To The AM @ Capitol Garage (every 3rd saturday). Make sure you get the single if you see it in stores, and look for them in Issue 16 of THELEGEND.
